The holidays are marked by so many traditions that it's hard to list them all. But for most sports fans in Texas, attending live or watching a good bowl game on television ranks among their favorite things to do for the Christmas-New Year break.

And in a state where football is as important as breathing air, there is plenty of great bowl game action to enjoy.

71st Annual Cotton Bowl Game - January 1, 2007 - Dallas

There's no better place in Texas to spend New Year's Eve than the Alamo City, and the start of the New year celebration is marked by the clash between the Longhorns and the Hawkeyes. Get ready for gridiron action in the River City.

The Brut Sun Bowl - Dec. 29 - El Paso
Oregon State vs. Missouri
With continuous gridiron action since 1936, this super game out West offers the opportunity to experience the historical City of El Paso and catch one of America's top 25 teams, the Beavers from Oregon. Catch the clean desert air, mix in a Mexico excursion, dine on great Mexican food and enjoy NCAA action.

Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl - Dec. 23 - Fort Worth
Tulsa vs. Utah
Formerly known as the Fort Worth Bowl, the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl features top teams from Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference. This year's game features Tulsa and Utah.

The Texas Bowl - Dec. 28 - Houston
Rutgers vs. Kansas State
Houston has stepped back up to the plate with the new Texas Bowl, a chance for Houstonians to get in on the live bowl action. Set in Reliant Stadium, home of the Houston Texans, this year's inaugural game will feature Rutgers and Kansas State.
