St. Paul
and the
 Angel of God

St. Paul is headed to Rome from Jerusalem.  On his journey, the Angel of God tells him that even though his journey aboard the ship would end in a wreck, none abroad would be hurt.


St. Paul is invoked against many things including storms, snakebites and blindess.


Christ at the home
of Lazarus, Mary, and Martha

In Bethany, a feast was held in Jesus' name at the house of Lazarus, Mary, and Martha. Here Jesus asserted his role as Light of the World to his friends as well as a crowd consisting of Jews and Greeks that had formed to protest Jesus' claims.


Andrew Bringing
Peter to Christ

St. John's followers Andrew and Peter are intrigued at the true indentity of Jesus. After speaking with Jesus, Andrew introduces his brother, Peter, to Christ. Both become apostles of Jesus. Later in life both would become effective evangelists. Andrew would become the patron saint of Scotland and Peter would establish the first Christian community in Rome.


The Angel
of the
Resurrection

Lamb Studios

Following the crucifixion of Jesus, his disciples are with heavy hearts. After not finding him in his tomb, an angel appears and speaks to the visitors. Greeting them, the angel delivers the message of Christ's Resurrection.


Joshua Gazing
Toward the
Jordan

Tiffany Studios-Inspired

Joshua accompanied and assisted Moses during the Jewish exodus from Egypt. Here, Joshua is looking towards the Jordan River. The banks on the opposite side are where the Promised Land was foretold to be located. Note that even though Moses led the Jews from Egypt, it was Joshua who, according to Biblical scripture, delivered them into the Promised Land.


St. John, St. Peter, and Mary Magdalene
at the
Tomb of Christ

Upon visting the tomb of Jesus in the early morning, Mary Magdalene noticed the stone blocking the tomb of Jesus was removed. The tomb appeared empty. She hurried to tell Peter and John and returned with them to the sepulcher to investigate further.

This figure is a metaphor for one of the ideal Christian values, humility. Also, observe the technical skill involved int the crafting of glass, especially noticeable in the white of the man's robe, would become a hallmark of Tiffany Studios. This type of innovation allowed American glass crafters to attract attention to a craft well over 1,000 years old.




The Adoration
of the
Magi

The Magi, or Wise Men, had heard of the prophesy of the king of kings being born, and it is said, followed a star to the place of Jesus' birth. Finding the product of prophesy, the gifted to the Christ-child three gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Contrary to the request of King Herod, the Magi left Bethelehem without telling Herod the location of Jesus.

Photo 1: St. Elizabeth of Hungary is a Tiffany Studios piece. St. Elizabeth was born into nobility, but yearned for a life of poverty. A devout Christian of the Franciscan Order, she was prone to deeds of compassion. She is known in a manner that alludes to the miraculous appearance of roses within the folds of her robe during a mission of mercy. St. Elizabeth is the patron saint of many things including the sick and hospital workers.

Photo 2: The Baptism of Christ is a Lamb Studios piece. Even as the two were still being carried in their mothers Mary and Elizabeth's wombs, St. John had long recognized the greatness of Jesus. It was to his surprise that Jesus wanted St. John to baptize him. Following the Baptism of Christ, a light shone down from the heavens, a dove speared and a voice was heard from above stating that
"This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased."
