Sure -- When you think of Mardi Gras in general terms you generally think of New Orleans. And when you think of Mardi Gras in Texas you most often think of Galveston. But Mardi Gras Southeast Texas Style, staged each year in Port Arthur, has caught on and grown into a major celebration attracting hundreds of thousands of revelers who often choose to avoid the crowds of the the other Mardi Gras celebrations in larger cities to join in the fun and gala near the shores of Sabine Lake.

And this year's celebration promises to be bigger and better than ever before, featuring no less than nine parades, plenty of live music and enough food o feed, well, southeast Texas!

One of the highlighted parades is the "Courir Du Mardi Gras Parade", a unique event, traditional Cajun celebration dating back to the 1800's in which costumed revelers and musicians follow a masked rider from house to house seeking ingredients for a gumbo, while performing tricks and antics. Public is invited to join the Courir Du Mardi Gras parade along with Krewe members - ending downtown with a fais do-do (dance).

The four day event is packed full of live performances from groups including Wayne Toups and Zydecajun, Texas Black Gold, Gary Helms, Don Fontenot, the Mambo Kings, Kevin Fowler, Ely Young, Step Rideau and others.

Another popular event that has been expanded is the Kid's Zone, an interactive playground event for kids of all ages.

Mardi Gras Southeast Texas takes place in downtown Port Arthur Jan. 31 - Feb. 3. For more information visit the official Web site at http://www.portarthur.com/mardigras.
